HYGIENE AND STERILIZATION IN THE VRIONI DENTAL CLINIC
Sterilization: is the method that is used in medicine to destroy (kill) all living organisms (microorganisms, bacterial spores, fungi, viruses) that are found on the surface of equipment or materials used in medicine.
The sterilization is carried out by means of the autoclave. The instruments and materials used for the patient are firstly put into the autoclave where they remain for a certain period of time, at high temperature and under the action of high pressure steam. At the end of the sterilization cycle, all the organisms found in the tools are destroyed.
If the microorganisms that are intended to be destroyed are microscopic in size were some of them are micron, and are wrapped in a hard shell like mussels, they cannot be killed by hitting them in the head. Instead it is used the only safe and 100% effective method: sterilization.
In some clinics to sterilize the instruments are used restricted areas (hot air oven), whose operating principle is similar to those furnaces which most people have in the home. They are more economical (150 euro) compared to the autoclave (3,000 €), but less effective and less safe.
Using the hot air furnaces (aerosterile) are destroyed 60% of the microorganisms because to act is only the heat, while using the autoclave are killed 100% of the microorganisms as the heat of the high-pressure steam destroys all the bacterial spores, all microbes and viruses.
Remember that: by going to the dentist you might be exposed to serious infectious diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and so on. (all diseases that put at risk and reduce the quality of your life). If in the clinic of the dentist are not respected the right rules of hygiene and sterilization, your health will run serious risks.
How is performed the sterilization, disinfection and how hygiene is maintained in our clinic:
-The tools that will be used are firstly immersed in a chemical solution, then, they are subsequently placed in a device for ultrasonic cleaning to remove blood and the small residual fragments, subsequently rinsed, dried, packaged and put into the autoclave.
-For the sterilization of instruments it is used a digital autoclave, EUROPA B Evo, an Italian production, TECNO-GAZ, conforms to EN13060. www.tecnogaz.com
-For the autoclave is used distilled water.
The equipments are packed in sachets on which consists the security seal which before the sterilization is of pink color while following the sterilization becomes brown. In this way even the patient can control the sterilization process.
-The dental cutters and small equipments are kept in chemical solution which disinfects them all the time.
-All the sterilized dental cutters and small equipments undergo to quartz sterilization, which makes possible to sterilize in a short period of time at a temperature of 240 degrees centigrade.
-After you have finished working with a patient and before starting the work to the next patient, all parts of equipments that do not fit into the autoclave including, arms of the dental chair, spittoon, reflector (all parts that may have been affected by the doctor during the session) are cleaned with chemical disinfectant solutions, effective against hepatitis, HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis, fungi, all viruses and microbes to prevent from spreading them from patient to patient.
-Before and after the work with the patient, doctors wash their hands and after that they disinfect them with a special solution.
-The following materials are of single use only for a patient:
- plastic cup
- plastic tube to absorb the spittle
- the apron to protect the patient
- gloves
- syringes and needles for anesthesia
To prevent viruses and germs pass from doctor to patient and vice versa, doctors make use of protective masks.
To avoid becoming a source of various diseases doctors are regularly subject to medical checks as well as to periodic assessment and vaccines.
We follow the motto "is the right of every patient to be treated in a clean environment and with sterile materials."
For this reason is in our consideration and care to offer to each patient, at any time, a healthy, clean and safe environment because we believe that all of these are necessary both for your health as for ours.
When choosing a dental clinic where you want be treated keep in mind all these and do not hesitate to ask for information on the method of sterilization applied at the clinic.
